Recorded on April 1st, 2022 in Gowanus Brooklyn, Gowanus is the first release from Andrew Lafkas, Todd Capp, and Bryan Eubanks since 2019's eponymous LP on Sacred Realism. They are here augmented by the modular synthesis of Xavier Lopez, who often plays with the trio in Berlin. The music on these recordings sparkles with an energy fueled by the previous days of live performance in NYC at FourOneOne/Shift in Brooklyn and the Zurcher Gallery in Manhattan. Gowanus continues Oceans Roar's unique path of collective improvisation and displays an emerging lyricism and occasional clarity compared to their previous recordings. The physical edition of this release is a small run of 50 cassettes, hand-numbered purple transparent tapes in glittered 0-cards made especially for the trio's 2023 tour in California.
